Like this mess. Zoe Bug is still rocking at night, and waking up with this rat's nest in her hair. Awhile ago a reader suggested silk pillow cases to me, and she even told me where I could find them, but even that didn't work. I was so hopeful.
I'm so sad. Zoe Bug is so sad.
I'm a bit of a control freak, you may have noticed, and I've never let my kids out of the house without combing their hair. It's odd, I somehow feel it's a reflection on my skillz as a mother. I prefer to have their hair not only combed, but bedecked with coordinating bows or ribbon.
I'm starting to rethink that insanity. It's getting to be such a drag.
I'll try to look at it positively. It's like a perpetual crazy hair day at school.
I know. I'll improvise.
Wow that is something else! I just love the expression on her face though. Priceless. My daughter is already complaining about the hair brushing I can only imagine what you are going through! :)
ReplyDeleteI seriously laughed so hard through this. My daughter has to have her hair brushed about 3 times a day because she has naturally curly hair and rubs her head with anything soft while she sleeps. I HATE it! It looks like a rat nest in the back and it is painful to brush that puppy out. Try the spray leave in conditioner, it might make it a LITTLE easier to brush out;) It's the best I have experienced. De-tanglers are a shame. They aren't any better than water.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...I am just laughing so hard. Good thing I have boys-I am terrible with my own hair, I can't imagine trying to do a daughters! My boys just wake up and go-with hardly a brush going through it...
ReplyDeleteohgosh Jill! Does she have a tender head too?
ReplyDeleteAimee
LOL! I can't tell if she's sad about her hair or because she knows you're going to blog about it! : ) I had a sister who rocked as well, except she just went from side to side. I totally forgot about that until I read your post. I guess there is nothing you could put on her hair or head at night; it would probably come off.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that poor baby. I am not going to lie though. Again...those pictures kill me. The one with the bows has me fit to be tied right now. Sorry kiddo!
ReplyDeleteWhat about thickening shampoo?
Maybe braid it before bed. I think my mom put a bonnet on my sister before bed and it seemed to help.
ReplyDeleteOh how you make me laugh, and so often I need extra ho ho's for the bad days!
ReplyDeleteI was a hairdresser for years, and I am trying to think of this spray that helps keep the tangling, but I would recommend putting the hair in braids, that is why women centuries ago would tie up their hair at night, and I did as a child. Aussie 3 min Miracle spray I think is the name, it will tame it, or at least help with combing the next morning...
Shave it already! Seriously, which could be worse, bad hair or no hair? And maybe it will grow back different???? Or at least you could hope. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the laugh, Jill. Seriously, when I saw that first picture, I thought of Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd. Poor Zoe...
ReplyDeletePoor Zoe, I can't even imagine dealing with that mess every morning! The picture is too funny though and I remember you posting about it before. The braids sound like a great idea to try.
ReplyDeleteI missed you all while I was gone and I'm glad to be home. We seemed to have brought the snow back with us though cause it is spitting snow here today!
Hilarious. I think you should tap into that inner pig. I think. She looks a bit happier with the bows. You are definitely mom of the year in ny book.
ReplyDeleteOh no!!!
ReplyDeleteI've had one heck of a day today, (one of those constant running kind of days!) FINALLY I had a minute to sit down at the computer and I pulled up my list of blogs that I check every day. Got to yours, and started rocking the chair with laughter! THANK YOU!!! I So Needed Your Blog Today!!
ReplyDeleteWish I was your Neighbor!!!!!
Poor little girl that she has trouble with the whole sleep thing! But hilarious hair though! I laughed so hard. Her little face... :)
ReplyDeletehaha this had me laughing :)
ReplyDeleteNo pony tails? That might help? Or a shower cap.
ReplyDeletei hope she's not tender headed! oh my gosh! that poor little girl!
ReplyDeleteI too was a hair stylest and braids sound like the best option if her hair is still really frazzled when you get it combed out me and my sis use stuff on our kids hair to smooth the crazy it is bedhead after party a tiny dab will do lasts forever and makes thier hair look smooth and neat is worth a shot and the $ for sure
ReplyDeleteIs this for real?? This is her hair in the mornings??? HAHAHAHAHAHA! Seriously ROTFL! What the heck does she eat before bed to make her toss and turn like that??? Just imagine her metabolism doesn't take a break for a second! I could use that!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing our girls have in common. Poor Bug. I will never complain about my princesses single section rats nest again. (At least until tomorrow morning.)
ReplyDeletegive her a mustache and she can be albert einstien for Halloween. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought my hair was bad. :)
HA HA HA! Love it. She looks so happy:) Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI have two girls (8 and 9 1/2). Both have long hair that is fine. We do a braid every night as others have recommended. Even still, my oldest, who has fine blonde hair, can still have the halo of fuzz. I don't know if she does head stands in bed or what.
ReplyDeleteI would also suggest a style of brush that seems to hurt much less. Paddle brushes and any of those rectangular "vented" brushes HURT AND PULL. We have a circular brush, with faux boar bristles (something like this: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P10147&categoryId=B70) and it seems to pull the least.
Good luck-BTW, my girls are not allowed to leave the house without having their hair "did". We get picked on about being proper but I don't care.
okay, so i am OBVIOUSLY not one to follow the rules, so take my compliment with a grain of salt, but I like Zoe's hair. Big, crazy, happy, fun hair. Just waiting to be explored. By nesting animals.
ReplyDeletedoes she refuse a cut? My hair is pretty wild but oh so manageable now that it's short. i'm not saying to hack it all-- just a healthy bit. before the hippies start calling.
My daughter has some seriously fine hair.. no matter how many clips and elastics or bows i put in.. a little craziness!
ReplyDeletesoooo every sat night i put in foam rollers. she is a doll at church!! i pop them into pig tails quick as can be - still adorable. they help work with her hair wayyyy better! give it a try.
I'm 32 and I still rock myself to sleep - But this does not happen to me!
ReplyDeleteI am SO with you on the hair thing...my kid isn't gonna be the "ghetto" one at school...cause that would make ME ghetto right?? I would rather her miss the bus, and have cute hair than be on time...and I have to say...that has happened...!! Good luck with the tangles...hope you have ten year's supply of detangler...!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this was already suggested, but what about using a shower cap?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have tried everything...and this would take a while (to grow it out), but how about growing it out and pulling it into a tight bun or ponytail. When my hair is longer I like to sleep with it in a ponytail...it's less of a nest in the morning. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteBedhead After Party, huh. Got to find me some, because I just blogged about the exact same issue, except my pictures didn't compare to yours. So funny. And I can't braid, so that idea is out for now. Funny bit of synchronicity.
ReplyDeleteI just bought a "tangle teezer" detangling brush and it's great. No more "ouches" :-)

Hope this helps.
